Kindle X-ray feature…(Updated again)

Update as of today – 26/02/13

X-Ray and Book Extras has been enabled for Destiny of the Wulf – Thank you!

Update as of today – 18/02/13

I received a charming email from an Amazon representative who had read my blog and this post (wow).

They offered to help me with my query and implement X-ray for me. They also wish to seek my opinion on upcoming features.

Heck, I jumped at the chance. All I want is the best for my readers, and a chance to shape features is a great opportunity.

So, there you go, surprises do happen.

Thanks to the representative for their intervention.

Hopefully soon, I will have X-ray available for my readers.

Why are Amazon so slow in getting the New Kindle X-ray feature out to readers?

I sent them a mail asking how I can I enable the feature, so that readers can fully benefit from my book and have access to additional information about my characters, and places as defined on http://www.shelfari.com…here’s the response.

Hi Harrison, The X-Ray feature on your Kindle Touch enables you to explore “the bones of a book.” (Yes, I know this)

When you tap the top of the screen, “X-Ray” will appear at the bottom. (Yes, I know this)

Then tap “X-Ray” and it will present a list of all passages from the book that mention the idea, person, or topic you’re interested in, as well as detailed descriptions from sources like Wikipedia. (Yes, I know this)

At this time, the X-Ray feature is only available on Kindle Paperwhite, Kindle Touch, Kindle Fire 2nd Generation, Kindle Fire HD 7″, and Kindle Fire HD 8.9″. (Yes, I know this)

While this isn’t currently a feature you can build into your KDP book, we’re working to make it available on more Kindle titles every day.

You can check back from time to time to see if the X-Ray feature has been added for your Kindle title. Thanks for your understanding.

Now, if I was to email the chairman’s office requesting the feature be added, I’m sure they’d be forthcoming like when I emailed them requesting DRM be removed from my book.

Why does it seem that all you ever get from the normal customer service representatives is pre-written scripts. Oh, we’ll, I guess I shall wait this one out. It’s not a sales killer at present, unlike DRM.

Thanks for listening to my rant.

It is fantastic to see it in the library, but sadly the got the genre wrong…it is supposed to be fantasy.
